Republican Controlled House Passes “Let Women Die” Bill
For the life of me I will never understand how a woman could ever be a Republican.
Today H.R.358, also known as the “Let Women Die” bill, passed in the House. This bill would change the health care reform law so hospitals would have the power to deny women abortion care even if their lives were in danger.
The President of NARAL Pro-Choice America Nancy Keenan, called out House Speaker John Boehner for his political grandstanding after the bill passed.
“Americans are facing real challenges, yet House Speaker John Boehner is ignoring the public’s call for Congress to focus on jobs, “said Keenan. “Instead, he is coming up with new ways to give politicians more control over our personal, private decisions. The House’s attacks on women’s freedom and privacy are out of touch with our nation’s values and priorities.”
American’s economy is struggling and this is what the House is focusing on? In February these right wing nuts had the nerve to bring the government to the brink of a complete shutdown with their sinister obsession of defunding Planned Parenthood.
In May, the Republican controlled House passed H.R.3 (a companion bill to H.R.358). These two bills both included language that stated a woman would have to be violently raped just so it would make it more difficult for sexual assault survivors to get an abortion. When the public went nuts over the issue, Boehner caved in.
The “Let Women Die” bill passed 248 to 173, with not a single Republican voting no and 11 Democrats voting in favor of it. Thank God H.R.358 doesn’t have a snowball chance in Hell of passing in the Senate.
I would like to take this time to say FUCK YOU to all the idiots who voted for these neo-cons. We need jobs, and the House is focusing on this!? When will these machinations end? You people make me sick.
I never understood interventions. What’s the point of being told you drink too much from a room full of reasons why you drink in the first place?
