Batman v Superman: Dawn of trying to catch up to Marvel
The teaser trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is out. After watching it my reaction is a big yawn. Mainly because I, like so many others have been spoiled by Marvel. What DC Comics/Warner Bros. Pictures is doing seems rushed with no build up whatsoever. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against DC Comics, but they really need to get their shit together.
Obviously, Batman and Superman are in this movie. Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Cyborg are in this film as well. Huh? If this were a Marvel film, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Cyborg would have already been established in solo movies before this one. I get the feeling after Man of Steel, DC saw how much money the Marvel Cinematic Universe was making (hand over fist) and started to realize why having a plethora of Superheroes together is a good idea. That’s great, but if you rush it, like they are doing with Batman v Superman, it might not work. Would it have killed DC to give Batman a cameo in Man of Steel?
DC is just tossing Superheroes on the big screen without proper build up. These characters need to have solo movies first before the comic book movie gang bang. I know some people think certain comic book characters (Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Aquaman) couldn’t carry their own film. I disagree. Most movies, if written and directed correctly will sale. If DC had cold feet about this, they should’ve given each of those characters their own TV series. Everything in the DC TV universe is connected to the movies right? Oh right…THEY AREN’T! It would be nice if DC had enough common sense to make the Constantine, Flash and Green Arrow television shows be in the same movie universe of Batman v Superman. Marvel was smart to have everything they put out on the big screen, TV, and Netflix (Daredevil is awesome) connect to each other. DC needs to do this. But I guess that makes too much sense. DC Comics/Warner Bros. Pictures remind me of baseball players using steroids. They want the money and fame, but are too lazy to put in the proper work to get there.
Maybe one day they will finally figured it out. I hope they do. Because in the end, fans like myself are blessed when there is good competition between companies. Marvel has a big lead DC. Good luck.
I never understood interventions. What’s the point of being told you drink too much from a room full of reasons why you drink in the first place?
