The shuddering winds
Of impending October
Rocket through the trembling trees
And into my window
Wailing a soft song as they die
Against the chilled glass
Mimicking the soft wail within
My opened veins.
Phantoms of you
Haunt the shadows of my room…
Whispering my name behind my back
Trailing a finger across my thigh as I sleep
Burning I love you’s into my ear…
And becoming an unrelenting reminder
That you’re gone.
The music of your moan echoes in my nightmares
And the silkiness of your kiss remains on my lips
Refusing to let go
Welcoming the cold Fall into my room
And you’re gone…
I have no shelter, no warmth, nothing
Without you.
I remain an empty shell
Bombarded by phantoms lurking in the corner of my eye
Waiting to remind me
Of this love affair so sweet
So exhausting
So shredded by time and space…
And yet, each night
I await your phantom to kiss me goodbye
To caress my skin
To promise me your love…
…
You were my true love.
