Despite initial claims that the next iPhone would feature only modest upgrades from the iPhone 4, a new report today suggests that Apple's next smartphone will be a significant departure from the current iteration and could arrive as soon as August.
According to BGR, the next iPhone will feature a "radical new case design," something also hinted at by former Engadget Editor-in-Chief, Joshua Topolsky. Unfortunately, specifics regarding the new design are scarce.
BGR's unidentified source also says that an iPhone-specific event will be held in August as opposed to previous mentions that the reveal will be part of Apple's iPod event that usually takes place in September.
As for a release date, the source made mention that the iPhone 5 will be available within a month of the August announcement.
