Electronic Arts has announced that it is talking to several production companies about an interactive TV show based on The Sims games. Apparently, the idea of the show is to let viewers vote on what the characters in the show will do. Right.....
"One idea could be that you're controlling a family, telling them when to go to the kitchen and when to go to the bedroom, and with this mechanism you have gamers all over the world 'playing the show'," according to Jan Bolz, vice president of marketing and sales for Electronic Arts Europe.
The show is obviously still in the early stages of development. It's certainly an interesting idea, and considering the number of players who play The Sims (and video games in general), could probably get a decent following. It would also be a big step in the long walk of video games being recognized in popular culture. How well it would work, however, isn't quite clear yet. We'll have to wait and see...
