This sounds pretty fucking cool
Yesterday, British tech site The Inquirer reported that the Xbox 2 will feature wireless controllers with layouts similar to the Xbox's S-controller. The white & black buttons will most likely be removed, but Microsoft will stick with everything else that has made the S-controller a well-liked controller.
Now, GamesIndustry.biz says it has confirmation from developers currently working on prototype Xbox 2 hardware that the Xbox 2 will launch with wireless controllers only. It will be the first system to feature wireless controllers as standard. Nintendo has had a lot of success with the GameCube's Wavebird wireless controller, but its standard controller is still wired.
There's no information on whether the wireless Xbox 2 controllers will have a rumble feature, what kind of batteries they'll use, etc. Nevertheless, this is some nice news for gamers, as wireless controllers make for a lot less hassle.
