  • Soul Calibur III details emerge

According to various sources, this May's issue of Gamepro has a few new details on the next Soul Calibur. First, the bad news. Gamepro reports that Soul Calibur III will be exclusive to Playstation 2. That's right, no Link this year. On the bright side, some new gameplay details were also revealed:

    - Soul Calibur III will include a "Create-a-character" mode which will allow you to customize various features, such as your weapon style.

    - You can use your character to battle through "World Competition Mode," aiming to achieve the ultimate rank (and probably a ton of extra goodies like weapons or costumes)

    - The game will also include Soul Arena and Museum modes. Soul Arena's function is unknown at this time, but the Museum will contain a history of the Soul Calibur franchise.

    - Current projected release is Fall 2005.

Aside from the obviously bad news, these few tidbits (namely the create-a-character mode) could certainly help garner a bit of hype for Namcos next big fighter.

    Why is this a rumor?

Many are aware that Namco had mentioned further projects with Soul Calibur on Gamecube and Xbox. And does anyone know which version of Soul Calibur II sold the most? The Gamecube version.

Also, Gamepro, in this issue, calls Soul Calibur 2 a failure. Excuse me, but I'll leave the job up to you guys of finding one poor word the media has uttered about Soul Calibur 2. Even Gamepro gave it a perfect score.

This is in the May issue of Gamepro, and April Fools Jokes have been noticed earlier on other magazines. Right now, I get the amazing pleasure of...

Telling you all that this bit about it being PS2-exclusive is a rumor.
