The GameDaily BIZ web site reports retired Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre is going to grace another cover -- this time of a video game box.
According to the web site, Electronic Arts (a.k.a., EA Sports) will officially announce Favre as their cover athlete for "Madden NFL '09" on Friday.
He would be the first retired athlete to appear on the cover of the popular video game series, which marks its 20th anniversary this year.
GameDaily further cites as evidence that for the past few years "Madden" cover athletes made the announcement during guest appearances on late night talk shows, and Brett Favre is scheduled to appear on Late Show with David Letterman Thursday night, one day before the official announcement.
Favre holds numerous NFL records including most career touchdown passes, most career pass completions, and most career passing yards. He was also a three-time NFL MVP and led the Packers to two Super Bowl appearances, winning one.
"Madden NFL '09" is scheduled for an August 12 release with versions for the Nintendo Wii, Microsoft XBox 360, Sony PlayStation 2 and 3, Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP), and Nintendo DS.
