Queens, New York rapper Ja Rule has announced his new album The Renaissance Project will drop in June, just as he starts a 2-year prison term for being caught with a handgun in July of 2007.
Ja Rule was sentenced to the term after pleading guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon.
Earlier this week, the rapper's lawyer revealed that a judge had pushed Ja' surrender date to June, so he could pay off an old tax debt and finish recording his album.
Ja took to Twitter and announced the official release date for the album is June 7th, the day before he must surrender to authorities and begin his prison sentence.
The Renaissance Project will be released on Ja Rule's Mpire Music Group, which is distributed and marketed by Fontana Distribution.
Ja Rule is due in court to surrender and start his prison term on June 8th.
