  • Kool G. Rap Explains Why He Shuns Social Networking Sites; Preps New Album

Kool G. Rap, who is preparing to release his brand new album Riches, Royalty and Respect, recently sat down with AllHipHop.com and explained why he doesn't use social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter to promote himself or his releases.

Kool G. told AllHipHop.com that although he's willing to use the social networking sites like any other person, his intense desire to keep his private life private, supersedes the need to promote his career.

"I can't really get with it, you know...to me what people [are] doing is basically putting a camera in their house and giving to the public,' Kool G. Rap told AllHipHop.com. "I mean, I can't do that, you know what I mean. It's like, I got G. Rap, that's for my fans, that's for the public. Who I am behind closed doors and my family or myself is something that I keep for myself. That's part of the old school of me I can't let go."

Kool G. Rap uses Facebook and Twitter occasionally, but only in specific instances – for example, to respond to family or others he has real-life connections with.

Members of his team are constantly utilizing the social networking sites to spread the word about his music and to promote his shows and releases.

While G. Rap admitted he enjoyed hearing from and reaching out to his fans, there is a part of his life which must remain separate.

"I got people that are constantly promoting on Twitter and Facebook," Kool G. Rap told AllHipHop.com. "Once in a while I do my personal thing here and there, especially when it's like people I'm shouting [out] that I have a relationship with, or there's somewhat of an acquaintance."

Kool G. Rap's new album Riches, Royalty and Respect is due in stores on May 18th via Fat Beats Records.
