Following their long overdue collaboration, on the track "Dog Sh**" last month, Mobb Deep and Nas are taking their reunion a step further ... via a full-length album?
During a press conference in Los Angeles this week, in which Mobb Deep was announced as an act on this year's Rock The Bells, member Havoc revealed that the Queensbridge duo and Nas have a collaborative album planned together.
"We're going to do a Mobb Deep and Nas album," Hav told HipHopDX.
The rapper producer said the idea for a joint project was mutual from both acts, after reuniting after years of being rivals shortly after Prodigy's release from prison earlier this year.
However, they've yet to begin recording.
"It hasn't begun, but we tipped the iceberg a little bit with the 'Dog Sh**,' " Havoc admits. "I think as we was working, doing songs back and forth with Nas recently, I think it was just a mutual thought, like, 'Yo, let's make a f***ing album.' Everybody was like, 'Yeah, that would be dope. F*** it, what we waiting for? Let's do it.' "
Both Nas and Mobb Deep have been enlisted for the 2011 Rock The Bell Festival Series, so they will be spending plenty of time together this summer.
Mobb Deep will be performing their classic album, The Infamous, in its entirety; and Nas will do the same with his breakthrough debut album, Illmatic.
"We really wanted to perform something that got us to where we are today," the producer explained. "We wanted people to experience what we went through at that time while making it. We want the whole crowd to experience what we went through so they can be like, 'Wow, that’s why they're here now.' "
