  • The Roots, Talib Kweli Help Middle Class Americans 'Rebuild the Dream'

Hip-Hop band The Roots and rapper Talib Kweli are teaming with MoveOn.org to launch a major economic campaign in New York City today (June 23rd).

The rap group will be joined by Talib Kweli, Shepherd Fairey, Van Jones, and filmmaker/actor Forest Whitaker.

The group of artists are launching the new economic campaign called “Rebuild the Dream.”

According to organizers, the Rebuild the Dream campaign's goal is to "protect and expand America's middle class."

“While big banks and other major corporations are once again thriving, countless Americans continue to face high unemployment, low wages, home foreclosures and little hope about their economic future," a MoveOn.org rep told AllHipHop.com in a statement. "Meanwhile in Washington, the debate is not about jobs, but rather deficit reduction.”

The Roots, Talib Kweli and the other celebrities would join MoveOn.org at Town Hall, which is located at 123 W. 43rd St. in New York.

The event begins at 8:00 PM.
