Rapper Lil' Wayne will go down in history as one of Hip-Hop's top rappers, but the world-renowned recording artist may also achieve the same feat – in bowling.
Lil Wayne is one of several celebrities who was nominated by the Bowling Proprietors Association of America (BPAA) for consideration into the International Bowling Hall of Fame.
In addition to Lil Wayne, celebs like Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Jeff Bridges, Kim Kardashian, basketball legend Michael Jordan, Justin Bieber and other celebrities have been nominated.
Fans around the world are being asked to vote for their favorite celebrity, for his or her role in helping to popularize the sport of bowling.
During the 2011 All-Star, Lil Wayne teamed with PBA Hall of Fame bowler Norm Duke for a charity event and earlier this year, the rapper landed in the finals of Chris Paul's annual Celebrity Bowling Invitational.
The rapper was defeated in the finals by Paul and Jason Belmonte.
"Each of these 2011 candidates has had a significant impact in helping to keep bowling as one of the nation's most treasured pastimes,"International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame Chairman Keith Hamilton told AllHipHop.com in a statement.
"If last year's down-to-the-wire showdown between Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber is any indication of what to expect for 2011, we'll be ready for a fierce battle to determine who is the next star to achieve bowling immortality," Hamilton said.
Fans who vote in the competition are being offered a coupon to bowl a free game at over 4000 bowling centers across the United States, who are are participating in the contest.
The online vote takes place between July 12th and August 6th, the date the winner will be announced.
August 6th is also National Bowling Day in the United States.
