  • Everlast Explains New Album 'Songs of the Ungrateful Living'

Rap veteran Everlast has launched a new record label and will release his first album in over three years, titled Songs of the Ungrateful Living.

Everlast, who began his professional career as a member of Ice-T's Rhyme Syndicate in 1990, is now running his own record label Martyr Inc. Records, which is distributed and marketed by EMI Music.

Everlast will address a number of social and political issues on Songs of the Ungrateful Living, which he says reflects his diverse musical tastes, which have been cultivated over the past three years.

"The music industry has changed tremendously over the years," Everlast told AllHipHop.com in a statement today (August 15th). “This album is particularly important to me to help express the current chaotic human condition we’re all dealing with. With this in mind I made the decision to take control of the situation and start my own label."

The Grammy Award winning rapper, who has topped the charts as a member of House of Pain (“Jump Around”) and as a solo artist (“What it's Like,”), is hoping to re-create his past successes with the new single “I Get By.”

Songs of the Ungrateful Living is due in stores on October 18th.
