The former sheriff that rapper DMX has accused of harassing him is targeting President Barack Obama and the controversy over the U.S. leader's birth certificate.
Maricopa County, Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio has formed a special “posse” – an officially sanctioned law-enforcement group - that will investigate Barack Obama's birth certificate.
The special group specifically went to Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who is notorious in Arizona for his no-nonsense stance on immigration policies, drugs, liquor and other crimes.
Over the years, Arpaio has been the subject of hundreds of lawsuits from people ranging from average citizens, to federal judges, who claim Arpaio's officers have often harassed them, as well as violated their civil rights.
The posse was formed at the request of the Republican’s Surprise Tea Party, who felt their voting rights are being compromised.
"We are asking for your assistance because you have a demonstrated history of enforcing Arizona laws in Maricopa County, even when enforcing those laws is unpopular in Arizona or out-of-favor with the wishes of a federal government that may choose to ignore the law to the detriment of the residents of Maricopa County," the Surprise Tea Party wrote to Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
The group claims that Obama's birth certificate could be a forgery, which will compromise the voting rights of the local citizens.
Over 240 signatures were included on a petition, along with reports from 20 experts, who doubted the president's birth certificate's of authenticity.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio name is well known in the hip-hop community, due to the number of incidents involving platinum rapper DMX.
DMX has been arrested 10 times in Maricopa County, the latest coming in August, when he was arrested for driving 102 MPH in a 65 MPH zone, with a suspended license.
DMX's arrest came just one month after he was released from an Arizona jail this past July, after serving seven months in prison for refusing to submit to a drug test.
According to DMX, who vowed to never return to Arizona after he was released from jail in 2010, he's done with trouble in the state in which he currently resides.
"I'm not going anywhere," DMX said in November of 2010. "I will be around a lot longer than him…I wish him the best good health long life. Leave me alone."
Although his officers have frequently arrested DMX, Sheriff Joe wished the rapper the best of luck.
"I will be happy if he does a good job in his profession and if he stays clean. I want to take credit -- he did go through our drug prevention program," Arpaio said.
While President Barack Obama may have many detractors in the United States, legendary Hip-Hop star DMC is not one of them.
The legendary rap star, 1/3rd of the seminal rap group Run-DMC, attended a New York Fashion Week runway show that featured Hip-Hop mogul Russell Simmons and his niece Angela Simmons.
During the event, an associate of AllHipHop.com quizzed DMC about his thoughts on President Barack Obama, whom he met in June of 2009, after accepting a personal invitation to the White House.
His thoughts were drastically different than those of the Surprise Tea Party in Arizona.
“He should be more than president,” DMC said during the runway show. “He should be like the world leader, Where all the presidents and all the leaders of the world come to him for advice to see how they're supposed to be doing. There should be the Dalai Lama and then there should be Obama.”
