Jay-Z praises his Roc Nation signee Jay Electronica for his "scary" abilities as a lyricist.
While in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania yesterday to announce the Budweiser “Made in America” festival, Jay-Z sat down with MTV News to discuss the progress on his Roc Nation signee Jay Electronica’s debut album.
During the interview, Hov said that he fully supports Jay Elec and that the album is “really close.” “I love that, I want to support that sort of energy. I want people to be creative and not traditional, not just a single [at] this time, this time [and] this time," he said. "You know, he operates at his own time, but the album is really close.”
He praised the project for its unconventional sound, and explained how his abilities are almost “scary.”
“It's exactly what it should be — it's amazing. Him as a lyricist is almost scary. He's scary good," he continued. "I'm doing something to it that's really untraditional, so we'll see how it works."
