  • Canibus Free, Working On Two New Projects

Canibus is in negotiations with a major label, with hopes of obtaining distribution for two albums, which he is expected to drop in 2005. Canibus has parted ways with his most recent label Babygrande, who released his Rip the Jacker in 2003, the final installment of his self-described independent trilogy.

“Babygrande had the pleasure of uniting two of the most progressive artists in the game (Stoupe & Canibus) for a one-off concept album (Rip the Jacker) that, in our opinion, resulted in a timeless classic for the ages,” the label said in a statement. “As of today, Rip the Jacker is Canibus' best-selling album since he left the major label arena.”

The rapper recently landed representation from entertainment law firm Loeb and Loeb in Los Angeles.

According to Loeb and Loeb’s website, the company represents “some of the world's foremost recording artists, songwriters, performers, producers and music supervisors.”

In related news, Canibus has teamed with Shaquille O’Neal, who has recently stepped up his rapping efforts and dropped several verses on various mixtapes.

The track is titled “Victory" and can be found on DJ Kay Slay's “Certified Trouble Makerz Part 5” mixtape.

Virginia based beat maker Nottz, who produced Lloyd Banks "I'm So Fly" is one of the producers for Canibus’ new efforts.

Release dates for the new albums were not available as of press time.
