Suge Knight has dismissed allegations that he was involved in a melee during the 2nd Annual Vibe Awards, which took place in a hangar at the Santa Monica Airport in Santa Monica, California. A fight broke out near the stage as Snoop Dogg and Quincy Jones were set to honor Dr. Dre with Vibe’s Legend Award.
Reports suggested a man affiliated with Knight punched Dr. Dre, a claim Knight denied.
“When I do something wrong blame me for it,” Knight told the BBC after the incident. “One thing about me, if I do something wrong, I claim it. No matter what it is. Even when I went to prison. I’m not embarrassed about being in prison for 5 years. I did 5 years, I did my time, I made myself better. I’m not no snitch, I’m not no rat, I’m not the kind of guy who just wants to start stuff.”
In resulting fracas between Dr. Dre’s security and the assailant, a 26-year-old man was stabbed. Reports said the wounded man is in stable condition.
Streaming video has hit the internet showing a chaotic scene, chairs being thrown, people chasing each other and one man being restrained.
In reality, the show was halted for about 5 minutes and continued. Dr. Dre accepted his award and told the crowd he wouldn't let the chaos stop him.
Police are looking for the perpetrator of the stabbing, but have made no arrests.
The awards show is set to air on UPN on Tuesday (Nov. 16) at 8 p.m.
