  • Fight Breaks Out At Ja Rule Afterparty; Ends With One Person Shot

More drama has gone down in the hip-hop world. According to MTV News, a shooting went down at a Ja Rule afterparty in Peoria, Illinois, following a Ja Rule performance at the Peoria Civic Center.

Reports say that the rapper was in attendance at an afterparty at Club Ignition, and around 1 a.m. he was speaking to a crowd of people near the dance floor when someone approached him and threw their drink at him. A scuffle then in sued, but was broken up before police could arrive.

As the club was closing around 1 a.m. and clubgoers began to exit, a single gunshot was fired in the vicinity of Club Ignition's stairwell entrance. Hundreds of people present began to panic running and shoving their way to the exits.

Shortly after the shot was fired, police officers located a victim - Peoria resident Marshall Payton - outside the club, who had been hit by the gunshot to his left hip. Payton told police that he had heard the gunshot, but didn't realize he was hit until after he had exited the club.

Payton was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, where doctors examined him and came to the conclusion that the gunshot didn't cause any major damage or strike any bones and didn't need to be removed from Payton's leg.

The incident is currently under investigation.
