    The Jam Master Jay Foundation for Music along with adidas will host a kick-off event tonight (Feb. 25) in New York City to honor the slain Run DMC DJ and commemorate the 35th Anniversary of the legendary adidas Superstar sneaker.

    The celebration takes place at 8.p.m. through midnight at New York's Skylight club, with an after-party commencing after midnight.

    The event features performances by Bone, Missy Elliot, Kid Rock, DMC, and X. Bone will also announce their new deal through DMC's Warner affiliated label.

    Other faces from music, fashion and entertainment will also participate in the celebration of Jam Master Jay, who was gunned down in his Queens recording studio on October 30, 2002.

    All proceeds from the event go to the Jam Master Jay Foundation for Music, a non-profit organization that funds and supplies resources for free, public school music education programs.
