The troubled former president of the Teterboro Animal Shelter in New Jersey was arrested yesterday (March 9) and charged with stealing money from a fund set up by rapper DMX to settle animal cruelty charges.
Prosecutors have charged Robert Nesoff with stealing at least $5,500 from a $15,000 educational fund, which DMX was ordered to create after he was pleaded guilty to 13 counts of animal cruelty in 2002.
Police said they noticed a series of unaccounted for checks as they were reviewing Nesoff’s financial records.
The shelter failed a state health inspection check last year, and the SPCA filed 84 animal cruelty charges against Nesoff last year.
Nesoff resigned from his position after he was charged yesterday.
He refused comment on the matter.
