  • Foxy Brown Appears In Court

Foxy Brown appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court today (April 11) on assault charges for allegedly punching and kicking two manicurists at a Manhattan nail salon, who claimed that the rapper refused to pay for a pedicure last summer.

Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, is accused of assaulting the two workers, Myoung Yi and Sun Ji Song, after receiving a pedicure on Aug. 27 at about 10 p.m. at Bloomie Nails in Chelsea.

When the workers allegedly denied Brown, 25, a manicure due to the late hour, prosecutors said, the rapper refused to pay and tried to leave. The two women blocked the shop's entrance and then Brown's car door, according to prosecutors.

While Brown didn't refute the manicurists' claims about getting into a fight, her attorney, Joseph Tacopina, said the first officer who appeared on the scene did not note injuries on the two women.

"This is someone trying to use the criminal justice system to extract money from a celebrity," Tacopina told New York Newsday.

Foxy denied refusing to pay for the pedicure, stating that she was charged for both a manicure and a pedicure and simply would not pay an additional $20.

"They didn't give me the manicure," the rapper said outside the courtroom, according to Newsday. "A $20 pedicure? Are you serious? Look at me," Brown reportedly stated, referring to her Chanel sunglasses and Dolce & Gabbana bag.

Brown then turned attention to her new album she is currently working on with Def Jam President Jay-Z, who signed the fellow Brooklynite to the label shortly after his appointment.

"I am trying not to be deterred by any negativity," said Fox. "Justice [will] prevail."

Brown was ordered to keep away from the manicurists. She is scheduled to return to court on May 6.
