  • UK TV Pulls 50 Cent Off Air

Reebok International Ltd. pulled a commercial featuring Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson from U.K. television after viewers protested that it glorified guns.

According to Advertising Standards Authority spokeswoman Donna Mitchell, over 50 TV viewers fussed that the commercial "glamorizes and perhaps glorifies gun culture." The "I Am What I Am" promotional spot features Fiddy counting from one to nine in reference to having been shot nine times.

"[The campaign] is intended to be a positive and empowering celebration of this right of freedom of self-expression, individuality and authenticity," Reebok spokeswoman Denise Kaigler explained.

The 50 commercial was pulled from the air last week after "a small number of the general public found it offensive."

50 appears in the campaign alongside Jay-Z, Philadelphia 76ers guard Allen Iverson, professional Tennis player Andy Roddick and actress Lucy Liu (Charlie's Angels).
