Young Buck's court date, in relation to last year's Vibe Awards stabbing, has been pushed back to a June date.
This marks the third time Buck's court date has been postponed. Buck, aka David Darnell Brown, was initially scheduled to appear in court in March before the hearing got pushed back to April 18th; then later delayed until May. Buck is now scheduled to appear in court on June 8th.
The Ten-A-Key emcee has pleaded not guilty to stabbing Jimmy James Johnson during a melee at the Vibe Awards in Santa Monica last November. A mass brawl ensued after Johnson pretended to ask Dr. Dre for an autograph only to sucker punch the producer. The incident took place just moments before Dre was to take the stage to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.
In January, Johnson allegedly confessed to Santa Monica Police that Suge Knight paid him to assault Dre. Johnson agreed to the deal in exchange for Suge forgiving the debt of Johnson's brother and a $5,000 cash payment.
Knight's lawyer denied the allegation through a statement saying, "there is absolutely no truth to it. I am so confident that there is no issue."
Police had been investigating a possible link between Johnson and Suge Knight. There's been bad blood between Knight and Dre since the producer left Death Row Records in the mid '90s. Despite not being invited, Knight was in attendance the night of the awards and sat a few seats behind Dre. Authorities claimed his appearance was a violation of his parole since Dre obtained a restraining order against Knight in 2001.
Currently, Buck is free on bail and faces 8 years in prison if convicted.
