DMX has been charged with violating the terms of a plea deal and may face up to one year in jail.
After being caught driving yesterday by police, Earl Simmons has violated his deal made with prosecutors where he has been banned from getting behind the wheel of any car. Last year, Simmons drove through an airport parking gate after taking valium. He pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment and was sentenced to a conditional discharge. He was also fined, had his license suspended, and his SUV forfeited.
Yesterday, DMX posted $500 bail after the hearing concluded. The judge could give him up to a year in jail if it's determined that the two incidents with authorities violated the terms of his release.
District Attorney Richard Brown said in a statement, "In each incident, it is alleged that his driver's license had either been suspended or revoked." Brown continued, "His subsequent actions not only exhibit contempt for the legal system but recklessly endangered the public as well. The lesson the defendant should now learn is that everyone must be held accountable for their actions and that being a celebrity does not put one above the law."
The 34-year-old rapper is scheduled to appear in court on October 31st of this year.
