Eminem, born Marshall Mathers III, has recently been hospitalized for an addiction to a sleep medication.
According to a spokesperson from Interscope Records, "Eminem is in the hospital under doctors' care." The Detroit free press reported that Em checked himself in to Brighton Hospital, in Detroit, for treatment of an addiction to Ambien - a commonly prescribed sleep aid, in which he had a prescription for.
Mathers cancelled the European portion of his Anger Management 3 Tour earlier this week (click on the link for the Eminem Calls Off European Tour story), citing it was due to exhaustion and "other medical issues." The tour was slated to hit Hamburg, Germany on September 1st. However, 50 Cent will continue headlining the tour beginning on 9/13 in Nottingham, England.
In other related Eminem news, the Detroit rapper is currently facing a law suit from his uncle and aunt (click on the link for the Eminem's Aunt & Uncle Take Rapper To Court story), Jack and Betty Schmitt for more than $350,000 and the title to a home Em built for them. The couple is suing their nephew claiming that he has failed on a promise of paying them $100,000 a year for five years. The Schmitt's also said that they received an eviction notice and they have to vacate their home.
