  • Tupac's Screenplay 'Live 2 Tell' Coming To Big Screen

A screenplay that late rapper Tupac Shakur wrote while locked away in prison is finally coming to the big screen.

Shakur penned the script for “Live 2 Tell” while incarcerated at the Clinton Correctional Facility in 1995.

“Live 2 Tell” centers around the inner-city struggle of a drug kingpin who decides to leave the drug game behind.

The screenplay was written during a turbulent period in the slain rapper’s life. Shakur had just been sentenced to four and a half years in prison, after a woman claimed Shakur forced himself upon her on a nightclub dance floor and later, a hotel room.

Shakur was paroled when Marion “Suge” Knight posted Shakur’s $1.4 million dollar bail in exchange for recording three albums on the Death Row Records imprint.

”Live 2 Tell” was acquired by Insomnia Media Group, which will start production on the film in March of 2006.

Shakur was gunned down in a hail of bullets on the Las Vegas strip in 1996 in a brazen shooting after a Mike Tyson fight.

Shakur’s mother, Afeni Shakur, will serve as producer of the film.

In 2003, Ms. Shakur told AllHipHop.com of her plans to bring the screenplay to the big screen.

“We have every intention of putting that movie on the screen,” Ms. Shakur told AllHipHop.com. “It's a story of redemption and education."

Insomnia Media Group acquired the rights to the screenplay from Ms. Shakur. Casting for the film has not yet started.
