DMX got a brief intermission from the 70-day sentence he's currently serving on Riker's Island, but unfortunately it was to make yet another driving-related court appearance.
Yesterday, X (born Earl Simmons) made an appearance in front of a Bronx, NY judge, facing charges stemming from a car accident in that borough last Spring that resulted in a police car being rear-ended.
Already serving time for driving with a suspended license in Queens, DMX pleaded guilty yesterday to driving with a suspended license in the Bronx last April when his 2005 Dodge SUV ran into another car, which then hit a police car.
Simmons' long record of traffic offenses includes the June 2004 incident where he charged a parking gate at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport with his SUV, and several occasions of being caught driving with a suspended license, including one where he was clocked speeding at 104 mph in Westchester.
Simmons managed to avoid jail-time for the JFK incident by promising to stay out of trouble for a year; however that pass was revoked after committing multiple violations.
X had hoped for probation in the Bronx case but Criminal Court Judge George Villegas fined the rapper $500 and sentenced him to a seven-day term, which will run concurrent with his current jail term.
