Ed Lover reported to the 13th Police Precinct in Manhattan yesterday (December 16), to answer assault charges stemming from an incident in which he allegedly punched a 26-year-old woman in the face inside a New York City nightclub last weekend.
At 9 a.m., with a lawyer at his side, the 42-year-old legendary hip-hop personality and Power 105.1 DJ turned himself in to authorities. As reported earlier in today's Pulse Report, police say Lover attacked a woman at Duvet nightclub, leaving a gash on her face that required 20 stitches to close.
The incident went down at 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning (December 12) when Lover's girlfriend got into it with another woman. According to the police, the 6-foot-3, 230-pound former co-host of "Yo! MTV Raps" shimmied past a bouncer, jumped over a railing and socked the woman in the face.
The lawyer for the alleged victim claimed that, "the club was much more concerned about him. They didn't try to stop him. They didn't hold him. They didn't call 911."
Club management, however, denies this account of the night in question, claiming that the police were not called because the alleged victim said that she didn't want to press charges.
