Russell "Block" Spencer, CEO of Block Enterprises, recently inked a multimillion dollar label deal with Sean "Diddy" Combs' Bad Boy Worldwide Entertainment and Warner Music Group (WMG).
"When Block and I first met, I realized he had an ear for the streets of the South," Diddy told AllHipHop.com in a press release. "Block brought us his first group, Boyz N Da Hood, and showed his knowledge of the sound of Atlanta and the South."
Ultimately, the success of Hip-Hop power group Boyz N Da Hood helped introduce Block Entertainment to the mainstream while Block helped guide the catapulting career of rapper Young Jeezy.
In 2000, Block, an Atlanta native, founded Sho Nuff Records with Jazze Pha and shortly after served as president of the pioneering Houston-based independent label, Suave House.
Block has managed projects for Ciara, Tela, 8Ball & MJG and Crime Boss.
Shortly after his time with Suave House, Block became head of A&R forNoontime Records.
As Bad Boy South continues to nourish its alliance with Block Entertainment, the two labels plan to release new music from Boyz N Da Hood, as well as solo albums from rappers Yung Joc, Big Gee, Jody Breeze and rock n' soul artist Jill Rock Jones.
