  • Ice Cube Launches Scholarship For "Higher Learning"

    Ice Cube recently visited one of America's leading contemporary music schools to launch a new scholarship named after him.

    The rapper/actor made his presence felt at Minnesota's McNally Smith College of Music on Thursday (May 4) after the announcement of the "Ice Cube Scholarship" by interacting with students.

    Cube encouraged students to follow their dreams, shared his secrets to battling writers block and revealed his dream of working with Prince.

    The "Ice Cube Scholarship" will be awarded annually to an outstanding

    McNally Smith student. The college also has other scholarships named after various artists including Diana Ross.

    "The opportunity to recognize Ice Cube's influence on contemporary music with a scholarship is very exciting," said Executive VP of McNally Smith Executive, Diane Kruger, via a statement. "His passion and drive has set an example for the next generation of musical innovators."

    As SOHH previously reported, Cube is currently on tour promoting his upcoming album Laugh Now, Cry Later. Due June 6, the album will be released through Cube's own label, Lench Mob Records and boasts production from Scott Storch, Swizz Beatz, Lil' Jon.

    Laugh Now, Cry Later also features appearances from West Coast rappers Snoop Dogg and WC.
