The former manager of R&B singer Ashanti is suing, seeking millions in damages for breach of contract.
According to Reuters, former manager Linda Berk filed suit on Tuesday (June 6) in a Manhattan federal court, claiming she guided Ashanti from an unknown to a "superstar" before the singer cut their contract short in May 2003.
Berk claims that the singer signed a contract with her in 1999, allowing her to co-manage Ashanti with her mother Tina Douglas. But, four years later, Berk was informed that the contract would be terminated.
"The contract naturally expired and we didn't renew it," a spokesman for Ashanti said.
