According to TMZ.com Dr. Dre and Interscope Records CEO Jimmy Iovine have filed a lawsuit against a Delaware based company over an oral breach of contract.
Filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the suit alleges that SLS International, Jibe Audio, Pentgram Design Inc. and Steve Lamar failed to honor an agreement they had with Dre and Iovine , to "manufacture, market and distribute a line of headphones" with the given marketing title "Beats By Dr. Dre."
The suit also alleges the aforementioned parties planned to distribute the headphones through a different company and secretly attempted to register a trademark in the 'Beats' name.
Dre and Iovine are seeking damages of "at least $1,000,000" and an injunction that prevents the companies from manufacturing and selling headphones using the "Beats" trademark and design.
In related news, Dr. Dre is rumored to be taking part in the making of a new Jay-Z album. The untitled project, which is predicted to hit shelves as early as Thanksgiving or early 2007, reportedly also features production from The Neptunes, Cool & Dre, Timbaland and Kanye West.
