With hopes of keeping his group's message alive , X-Clan co-founder and spokesman Brother J, has reassembled new members to the legendary rap collective and is gearing up for the release of a new album titled Return From Mecca.
X-Clan founder Professor X (born Lumumba Carson) died in March from spinal meningitis at a New York Hospital. Another member of the X-Clan, Sugar Shaft, died from AIDS complications in 1995.
Due in stores in the fall, Return To Mecca features appearances from Chali2na of Jurassic 5, KRS-One, RBX, and Damian Marley. Production the album will be supplied by DJ Quik, DJ Khalil, Jake One and Bean One, among others.
X-Clan have been touring North America for the past two months with Jurassic 5. The tour, which launched in Seattle on July 18th, will wrap up in Las Vegas on September 13.
The group with then appear at the Def Poetry Jam, the Legends of Hip-Hop Concert and embark on a 17-date tour with Damian Marley.
