Despite rumors that Method Man has been dropped by Island Def Jam, the emcee is still with the legendary label, according to sources.
"Method Man is still part of the Def Jam family and he is currently on tour promoting his new CD," said Def Jam publicist Jana Fleishman via a statement.
Rumors recently began spreading that Meth was dropped from IDJ due to low album sales. Meth's independent reps and a Def Jam spokesperson both denied the rumors.
In recent months, the Shaolin emcee has been quite vocal on his discontent with the label and his current President, Sean "Jay-Z" Carter. In a recent interview Meth further fueled the rumors of his possible departure by praising the independent route.
Meth recently dropped his fourth Def Jam release, 4:21...The Day After. The album sold 62,300 units in its first week, marking his lowest numbers since recording with the label.
To date, he has dropped three other albums: 1994's Tical, 1998's Tical 2000: Judgment Day and 2004's Tical 0: The Prequel.
