  • Warrant Issued For Snoop Dogg's Arrest

According to the Associated Press, Snoop Dogg has been charged with possession of a deadly weapon and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

An arrest warrant was issued for Snoop (born Calvin Broadus) on Thursday (November 2) according to spokeswoman Susan Schroeder of California's Orange County District Attorney's Office. The charges stem from the baton being found in the rapper's laptop case on September 27, as he attempted to board a New York-bound flight leaving the airport.

Since Snoop is a convicted felon, he faces a maximum sentence of three years in state prison if convicted. Though possession of the baton could be filed as a lesser misdemeanor charge, Schroeder said that Snoop was charged with a felony "based on his background and criminal record."

"He either turns himself in or he gets picked up by law enforcement," Schroeder said, adding that prosecutors had contacted the entertainer's representatives and asked that he surrender. Snoop has since defended himself regarding the incident, saying that the baton was merely a prop for a movie he was shooting in New York.

This latest charge is not the only one for the Long Beach MC. He was also arrested last week at the Burbank airport, outside Los Angeles, after police said they found a gun and marijuana in his car. He was booked and released on $35,000 bail in that case.
