  • Snoop Dogg Arrested on Drug Charges In Sweden

Snoop Dogg was arrested in Sweden early Monday morning (March 12) on suspicion of using illegal narcotics.

According to the Associated Press, Snoop, who had wrapped up a performance at the Globe Arena in Stockholm, was pulled over by police in a car he was riding in with an unidentified female. Authorities claim the Los Angeles bred rapper and the woman showed signs of drug use. A small amount of narcotics was also found in the car, but reports did not specify what type. Police are unclear if the drugs belonged to Snoop.

"He was arrested for use of narcotics. It's illegal in Sweden to use them, even to have it in your system," said Ostermalm Duty Sergeant Mats Brannlund. "You can see that a person indicates that he has used narcotics in looking at his eyes or his movements. (Police) suspected that he had taken drugs."

Snoop and the woman were detained at 1:25 a.m. and released nearly four hours later. During their detainment police questioned the pair and took body samples from them for laboratory testing. The results are due in two to three weeks and the rapper could face a fine if the tests confirm drug use.

"Such fines are means-tested and if he earns a lot, it can be a couple of thousand [Swedish crowns] ( around $280)," Brannlund explained.

Snoop (born Calvin Broadus) is expected to perform at the Oslo Spektrum in Oslo, Norway tonight. He is currently on a major European tour with Sean "Diddy" Combs. The 20 night trek will wrap up in UK at Nottingham Arena on April 2.
