  • Ice Cube Brings The Hood To A&E In New Reality Series

Multi-talented rapper/actor Ice Cube is playing the part of television executive again, having recently signed a deal to produce a reality series airing on cable network, A&E.

According to Variety Magazine Cube's latest project "Good in the Hood" will shine some light on positive things happening in the inner city. Cube's new show follows former criminals as they do their part to help their friends and neighbors rise above negativity and turn their lives around. Each hour-long show will focus on a different reformed gang member, drug dealer or robber seeking to inspire a relative, friend or stranger to change their ways and find their way to a more positive life.

"One of the most powerful elements in the show is the personal connection of the two subjects," Rob Sharenow, Senior VP of Nonfiction and Alternative Programming for A&E, told Variety, adding that people who are still enthralled with drugs and violence, " are more apt to respond to someone who has walked in their shoes."

Sharenow says that Cube "plans to be very involved" in the show, remarking that, "he comes from very difficult beginnings, growing up in a bad neighborhood in South Central L.A. He transformed his own life."

"Good in the Hood" marks Ice Cube's continued involvement behind the scenes of small screen production, Cube previously produced the thought provoking television series "Black.White" for the F/X network. This time around Cube will get a little more airtime. He is slated to introduce each segment of "Good in the Hood."

"This show is a way to demonstrate what is going on in a positive way in the urban community," Ice Cube said via statement.
