Snoop Dogg Denied Entry, Cancels Euro Tour With Diddy, as Nas fills the UK Gap
Snoop Dogg and Diddy have been forced to cancel the British leg of their European tour after authorities refused to grant Snoop a visa into the country.
Snoop (born Calvin Broadus) and Diddy began thier tour on March 12 in Oslo, Norway. The tour was originally slated to hit 18 cities in nine countries and was supposed to play five dates in the United Kingdom, wrapping up in Nottingham, UK, on April 2.
"With late notice of Snoop being denied a visa, time has ran out and it is too late reconfigure the show," said a statement that was issued on Tuesday (March 27). According to reports from WCBSTV, tour organizers had originally stated that the British show dates, beginning with the first date at London's Wembley Arena, which was scheduled for Wednesday (March 28), would go on without Snoop as part of the bill,.
According to British Home Office rules, foreign citizens can be barred from entering the country if there are concerns about their presence.
This is not the first time that Snoop has encountered problems gaining entry into Britain. In May 2006, Snoop was barred from entering Britain indefinitely, after authorities cited his criminal record in the States, which included both drug and gun charges. The banning followed an incident in which Snoop and five other members of his entourage were arrested for their involvement in a melee on April 27, 2006 at London's Heathrow Airport. Seven officers were injured as a result of the incident, including one officer who suffered a fractured hand.
Meanwhile, as Snoop and Diddy find themselves shut out, Nas announces dates for his own UK shows. Still promoting the death of the genre, and his Hip-Hop Is Dead disc, Nas will hit the UK for three dates in May.
