After dropping the critically-acclaimed Be in 2005, Chi-town's Common is set to release his next release this summer on Geffen, titled Finding Forever.
The title is clever, but what does it mean? Well, it's actually pretty reasonable after hearing Common's explanation. "I want to leave a mark on this earth," Common explained to Billboard.com. "By making music and saying what I have to say in my music is one of the ways I will exist forever."
According to Billboard, the forthcoming release will feature production from Kanye West, Will.i.am and the late J Dilla, while artists such as Bilal and Dwele sing background vocals on a couple tracks.
The first taste fans will get from Finding Forever will be in the form of the West-produced first single, "The People," which the rapper calls a "declaration type of song."
Later on the album, D'Angelo makes a rare guest appearance on "So Far To Go," Common samples Nina Simone on "Misunderstood" and Lily Allen assists on "Driving Me Wild," a standout track, according to Billboard.
Although there is no tour plans as of yet, Common is scheduled to perform on Saturday (April 14) at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and June 20 with Joss Stone and Ryan Shaw at New York's Central Park SummerStage.
Finding Forever is slated for release July 10.
