Gun charges that put Fabolous in jail overnight last year were dismissed by a Manhattan judge yesterday (June 13).
According to the Associated Press, a prosecutor revealed that authorities were unable to prove that Fabolous or his associates were the owners of any firearms.
"He's more relieved than happy," said Alberto Ebanks, Fab's lawyer. "He should never have been here in the first place."
Fabolous (born John Jackson) and three of his friends were charged with illegal gun possession when police found two handguns in a vehicle carrying the rapper to the hospital after he was shot outside Justin's Restaurant.
It was alleged that former Boston Celtics guard Sebastian Telfair was connected to Fabolous' shooting. Investigators claimed that someone affiliated with Fabolous stole Telfair's $50,000 chain outside the restaurant and the hoop-star's crew responded by shooting the rapper when he left the eatery.
Both Telfair and Fabolous refuted claims that either one of their entourages had anythign to do with the incident.
