A local Chicago rapper, who went by the name Blaxican and his business associate, was recently indicted on felony charges for allegedly swindling $1.3 million from investors by claiming to be producing an Adam Sandler movie.
According to CBS Chicago, on Friday (June 15) Blaxican (born Eric Jaglicic) and his partner Brian Falatovich were indicted on 27 counts of theft, theft by deception, security fraud and wire fraud by a DuPage County grand jury.
Blaxican, who had been accused of stalking Adam Sandler, allegedly convinced Falatovich into investing in the movie he entitled "The Record Deal." Prosecutors claim Falatovich would then persuade 18 relatives and friends to invest, then broke the terms of his agreement with them by giving the cash directly to Blaxican.
Blaxican is being accused of buying a Hummer SUV, two pet alligators, and a $442,000 house which included a recording studio, a big-screen TV and an arcade. All of the aforementioned items and the home were seized in November.
Blaxican stuck by his claim that he owed his lavish lifestyle to a "gift" from Falatovich and that he knew nothing of the alleged scam.
After his house was seized, Blaxican recorded a track called "They Took My House," in which he rapped the lines, "I'm a dead man walking -- I've got nothing left / They might as well finish me off quickly."
Blaxican and Falatovich face up to 30 years behind bars if convicted.
