  • Busta Rhymes Sentenced; Judge Issues Warning

Rapper Busta Rhymes appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court today (March 18), where he was formally sentenced for his role in two assault cases.

Judge Larry Stephens sentenced Rhymes to 3 years probation and 10 days of community service, for his role in assaulting a fan in August of 2006 as well as his former driver in December of 2006.

"Busta is glad to put this behind him and finally get on with his life," Rhymes’ attorney Scott Leemon ESQ. told AllHipHop.com.

Busta Rhymes, born Trevor Smith, was also fined $1,250 dollars and court costs, for driving while intoxicated and with a suspended license.

The 35-year-old rapper must also enroll in a drunken driving program. Judge Stephens warned Rhymes: "If you mess up, you’re going to jail"

As he left the court room, Rhymes seemed appreciative for his freedom.

"I thank the judge for giving me a chance and I thank everybody for being supportive," Rhymes told reporters.
