The prime suspect in the murders of Jennifer Hudson's family has been denied bail on Wednesday (December 3) in Illinois.
According to the Chicago Times, William Balfour appeared in a courtroom for a hearing one day after being officially charged with three counts of first-degree murder and a count of home invasion for the deaths of Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson, brother Jason Hudson and nephew Julian King.
Balfour's attorney, Joshua Kutnick, has blamed his client's situation on bias and claims there is no link to the alleged murder weapon.
"Thus far it is my impression and William's impression that he has been painted guilty in this case," Kutnick said in court. "And that is untrue and unfortunate. We implore the public to keep an open mind."
Despite his lawyer's confidence, prosecutors aruged that gunshot residue was discovered on Balfour's steering wheel the day of the murders, cell phone records show he was not home at the time of the crime plus his girlfriend said he confessed to the Hudson killings and has seen him with a gun resembling the murder weapon.
Balfour was arrested by Chicago police on Monday (December 1) and was transferred to CPD custody.
