A security guard for 50 Cent has been charged with weapons offenses, after he fired his gun as the rapper was checking in to a New Jersey hotel in September
William Floyd, of Brooklyn, New York, was arrested in November for possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes.
Floyd allegedly fired his gun on September 9, as 50 Cent and his entourage were checking in to the DoubleTree Suites Hotel.
Assistant Hudson County Prosecutor Patrick Doherty said there was no evidence that there was more than one gunman and that Floyd did not appear to be shooting at anyone.
Floyd, who is also employed by other hip-hop acts, was identified by an employee of the hotel.
A grand jury will consider the charges within a month.
The entourage left shortly after the incident, fueling speculation that the shots were part of a fued between 50 Cent's G-Unit crew and Murder Inc.
Rapper D.O. Cannon, who had just signed to Murder Inc., was gunned down in Queens, New York.
Shortly afterwards, Shadaha "Jah" Bey was also gunned down in Queens.
There was never a link made between the two murders.
