LatinoReview has been alerted that there may be some new castings for the upcoming Batman movie. Actors being considered are the following: Viggo Mortensen as Judson Caspian, Cillian Murphy as Harvey Dent, Katie Holmes as Rachel Caspian, Chris Cooper as Gordon, Elle Fanning as Barbara, and Noah Emmerich as Unknown part. They apparently are still finalising the two main villain roles, but everyone from Robert De Niro to Dennis Quaid has tried out, and they should have their man-times two, in a week or two.

Cillian Murphy, star of such indie hits as Intermission and 28 Days Later has joined the cast of Batman, reportedly as a villain. Murphy originally auditioned for the role of Batman, and obviously made an impression on director Nolan despite not bagging the Caped Crusader’s tights. Which role he is to play has not yet been confirmed, with the plot remaining under so many wraps it resembles nothing so much as a pashmina warehouse. Murphy joins Christian Bale as Batman and Michael Caine as butler Alfred (About.com has posted an interview with Michael Caine, aka, Alfred in the new Batman movie. Click here to read the entire interview. ), with Katie Holmes set to appear as Batman’s love interest." Early rumours would suggest Cillian would be a good Scarecrow! Thanks to Empire Online and John for the heads up!

Laurence Fishburne is being considered for a three-picture deal (ala Michael Caine) for the small but vital role of Lucius Fox. Nolan is apparently doggedly pursuing Chris Cooper for Gordon despite the actor turning down initial offers.

The movie is now called Batman Begins. Now that's a much better title.

The only Batman movie that was good was the first one. And with some exception, the second one as well.

Tim Burton was the only director able to pull off a good batman movie because of his dark style. Batman was a dark comic, thus he was a dark character. He was not the typical traditional superhero that followed a certain code of ethics among superheros. Rather, he is a vigilante and a hunter. He fucks up all criminals, and follows his own code in doing so. His entire motive stems from witnessing his parents being brutally gunned down and killed, and as a result, has grown up as a dark indivudial with a death wish. All these things embody the darkness that is Batman, and Tim Burton, known for his quirkly and off-colour style was able to make this happen.
