  • Parole for Charles Manson? New prison photo released

Charles Manson has made 11 attempts at parole since 1978- each one failing- and next week will be No. 12.

The first photo of Manson in three years has been released in advance of his parole hearing on April 11.

Manson’s prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi called Manson a very unusual murderer because "he sent other people out like robots to do the actual murders," according to Examiner.com. Bugliosi said he believes Manson will never be paroled.

Manson was convicted of seven murders carried out by his cult followers in 1969 in Los Angeles, where they inflicted 169 stab wounds on their victims.

Wwltv.com reports that Manson is now 77-years old, and the picture shows him with long hair, a beard and the familiar swastika scar on his forehead. Mirror Online reports that new photos are taken when the prisoner’s appearance changes. Manson’s head was shaved in his 2009 photos.

Mail Online reported that Manson was last turned down for parole in 2007, when the board said he posed an unreasonable danger to others and may bring harm to anyone he came in contact with. Manson did not participate in the hearing, or undergo psychological evaluation.

He spoke for the first time in 20 years on the 40th anniversary of the Tate murders, calling himself a ‘bad man who shoots people’.

Prosecutors say he has never expressed remorse for his actions. In recent years Manson has threatened a guard, and possessed a sharpened pen, which he could have used as a weapon.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Manson was first sentenced to death, but the California death penalty law at the time was found unconstitutional and the sentence was changed to life in prison with the possibility of parole.
