Jenn Sterger to appear in first interview since Brett Favre scandal
Jenn Sterger is set to appear in her first interview since the Brett Favre sexting scandal broke last year.
ABC spokeswoman Alyssa Apple confirmed to USA TODAY'S Game On! that Sterger will appear with anchor George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America morning show this week. The two-part interview will air Tuesday and Wednesday.
Sterger catapulted into the headlines after Deadspin.com reported she received suggestive voicemails, emails and photos from Favre while he was quarterbacking the New York Jets and she was working as as on-air game days hostess.
Sterger has yet to speak publicly about what did or didn't happen with Favre. Her last on-air job with Versus network's show, The Daily Line, disappeared in October after the show was canceled due to lousy ratings. She eventually cooperated with the NFL's internal investigation of the incident. But she's kept a low public profile since.
Sterger is now trying to rebuild her career. She split with former manager Phil Reese. She's signed as a client with high-powered New York PR firm Susan Blond, Inc., according to agency spokesman Perry Krasnove.
Favre, the longtime Green Bay Packers quarterback, filed his retirement papers with the NFL in January after playing the last two seasons of his career with the Minnesota Vikings. Favre was fined $50,000 by the NFL in December for failing to cooperate with its investigation.
Sterger was discovered by ABC sportscaster Brent Musburger during a Florida State-Miami college football telecast in 2005. As ABC cameras zoomed in on Sterger and her girlfriends cheering on the Seminoles, Musburger said: "1,500 red-blooded American just decided to apply to Florida State."
