About 200 billboards sprung up in Los Angeles on Thursday with police sketches of the two men who beat Giants fan Bryan Stow outside Dodger Stadium.
The billboards -- which publicize a $100,000 reward for information leading to an arrest -- were donated by the billboards' owner, Lamar Advertising Co. Another 100 billboards with the attackers' sketches are expected to be put up this week, said Los Angeles police detective P.J. Morris.
"I think it's a great thing that this company's doing this," Morris said. He added that Lamar representatives approached police last week about the billboards.
"I think it will certainly generate more people calling," Morris said. "Anything out there that can generate interest in the public, the better."
Stow, a 42-year-old paramedic who lives in Live Oak, was attacked by two men after a Giants-Dodgers game on March 31. He suffered a severe skull fracture and has been in and out of a medically induced coma at Los Angles County-USC Medical Center.
Detectives said Thursday they had received 500 clues on the case since the attack about six weeks ago.
"The people who will solve this case are the people at the game," Morris said. "Maybe they heard someone talking about it or bragging about it. We can just manage the clues."
Morris said he was confident the assailants would be found.
A news conference about the billboards is expected in Los Angeles on Tuesday, police said.
Bonnie Stow, Bryan Stow's sister, said this week that her family was delighted with the billboard donation.
About 8:25 p.m. March 31, after the Giants lost an opening day game to the Dodgers, Stow was walking with friends when two men taunted him, police said. Stow was hit from behind, fell and was kicked, police said.
The attackers wore Dodgers apparel and were 18 to 25 years old, police said.
Los Angeles police asked anyone with information to call the anonymous tip line at 800-222-8477 or detectives at 213-847-4261.
