Beer-tossing felon's on probation, barred from boozing
Meet John Green. The 39-year-old Michigan nitwit is the "man in the white hat" who helped ignite last Friday's NBA melee by tossing a cup of beer on Ron Artest--and then following up by rabbit punching the volatile Indiana Pacer. It's a safe bet that Green will soon face criminal charges for his Palace of Auburn Hills handiwork, but that future booking will not be a new experience for Green, a repeat felon whose rap sheet dates back 20 years and includes a conviction for the brutal assault of a Michigan woman (an attack that cost Green three years in state prison).
In fact, the West Bloomfield resident, a building contractor, is currently on probation for a November 2002 drunk driving conviction. As part of his sentence for that DUI rap, his third, Green was ordered by a Circuit Court judge to refrain from drinking booze. It would seem that any criminal count stemming from the basketball fracas could possibly trigger the filing of a probation violation charge against Green, whose court-ordered supervision runs until January 2005. Perhaps the beer cup in question could be dusted by cops and compared to Green's fingerprints, which are on file in several Michigan counties. Below you'll find the booking photo taken of Green following his 2002 arrest by St. Clair Shores Police Department officers. According to a police incident report, Green failed field sobriety tests like the one-leg stand, counting backwards, and reciting the alphabet. When pulled over at 2 AM, a "confused" Green insisted to cops that he drank only one Bud Light during two hours at a local bar. (7 pages)
